Indian spice sourcing should begin with a precise product requirement. The same spice may be traded in whole or ground form and may require buyer-specific quality, packing and documentation parameters.
Define the product
State the spice name and form—for example black pepper, turmeric, cumin, cardamom, chilli or coriander, and whether you require whole or ground product where applicable.
Describe the commercial requirement
Include expected quantity, packing format, destination port, preferred Incoterm and whether the product is for wholesale, foodservice, manufacturing or consumer retail.
Private-label spice programs
For retail programs, provide pack size, branding, artwork and carton expectations. Destination labeling requirements should be verified before production.
Confirm transaction-specific requirements
Food import rules vary by market. The buyer and exporter should agree the applicable specification, documents and shipment requirements before commercial confirmation.
