Importing cashew kernels from India starts with a clear product specification rather than price alone. A buyer should identify the required grade, intended market, order quantity, packaging format, destination port and preferred Incoterm before requesting a commercial quotation.
1. Choose the cashew grade
Whole-kernel grades such as W180, W210, W240, W320 and W450 represent different commercial size classifications. Buyers should select a grade based on application, presentation, target retail position and budget rather than assuming the largest grade is automatically the best fit.
2. Define quantity and packing
State whether the requirement is for bulk distribution, foodservice, retail-ready packs or private label. The exporter needs this information to assess packing configuration, cartons and commercial feasibility.
3. State destination and shipping terms
Include destination port/city and the commercial term you want quoted. The buyer should independently verify current import, food safety, labeling and customs requirements in the destination market.
4. Confirm specification before order
Agree the final grade, packing, quantity, shipment specification, documentation and commercial terms in writing before shipment. Product availability and documentation requirements can vary by transaction.
